Backpacks Banned At Raley’s

During a recent trip to our neighborhood Raley’s, THE BUZZ noticed a sign posted somewhat discreetly on the automatic doors.

When asked if shoplifting was a problem at the grocery store, one cashier told us “it happens sometimes.”

Apparently management gets uneasy when school lets out at nearby Inderkum H.S. and the store overrun with teens.

We were told students leaving backpacks at the door is simply a cautionary measure.

I would bet it is more to keep them out of the store period, not deter shoplifting. What kid is going to leave his bag unattended for other kids to grab. I’m sure most of us have seen the mayhem that breaks out when Inderkum gets out in the afternoon! Trix
