Public Input Needed

The Sacramento Police Department will be holding a public safety workshop to get feedback on how the Sacramento Police Department can better serve the public.

Councilman Ray Tretheway, Sacramento Police Chief Rick Brazille, as well as officers and employees from the Sacramento Police Department will be on hand to get public input for the Police Department Master Plan.

Recent crime activity in the greater Natomas area:

3-05-08, 10 a.m., Concealed Gun
In front of 2100 block San Juan Road
School Resource Officer from Natomas stopped three truants in front of 2198 San Juan Road. On contacting the suspects, two ran into the apartment complex. The SRO was able to detain one of the juveniles. The Officer searched the juvenile and found a loaded handgun in his back pants pocket, along with marijuana packaged for sale. The juvenile was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana for sale.

3-05-08, 6:45 p.m., Shooting
Parking lot 3300 block of Northgate Blvd.
Beat Officers responded to the Liquor Store at 3315 Northgate Blvd. on a call of a shooting. Officers located a mini-van in the parking lot that had been struck by a bullet. The passenger side rear window had been shattered by the shot. The bullet hit the rear frame panel and never actually entered the vehicle. When the vehicle was hit it was occupied by a Female and her four children. Non of the occupants were injured. Witnesses stated that a white 2D possible Buick with 20″ rims was possibly responsible for the shooting and fled the scene.

3-04-08, 11:10 p.m., Auto Burglary – Stabbing
3200 block of Azevedo Drrive
The victim observed two suspects burglarizing his car. He confronted both suspects causing them to flee on foot. The victim chased and caught one of the suspects. However, the suspect pulled out a butcher knife and stabbed/cut the victim in the head. The victim’s father arrived as this was taking place and assisted the victim in taking the suspect into custody. The suspect violently resisted but both the father and son were able to hold the suspect until the Beat Officers arrived. The Beat Officers continued to investigate this incident and identified the second suspect. He was taken into custody at his house. Both suspects were juveniles and arrested for burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.

3-03-08, 12:15 a.m., Armed Robbery
Tuscaro Common Apartments, 4400 Truxel Road
Two victims called 911 to report they were robbed at gunpoint by two suspects they met at a nearby gas station. During the meeting, one of the suspects produced a gun and took the victim’s money. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle near the gas station. The Beat Officers did extensive follow up, identified both suspects, and arrested them at the Tuscaro Common Apartments. Last night a two-officer TAC car was placed in the Regency park neighborhood to work specifically on the robbery series. The officers made numerous contacts during their shift (3:00 PM – 2:00 AM).
