And Speaking Of The Arts…

Did you know the Sacramento Opera hosts the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD Series performances, broadcast from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House into the Regal Natomas Marketplace Stadium 16?

“The Met’s experiment of merging film with live performance has created a new art form,” said the Los Angeles Times of the groundbreaking series of live, high-definition performance transmissions to movie theaters around the world.

This is the second season the Met has offered HD transmissions — this time with eight live events, up from last year’s six, and eight encore (recorded) events. Upcoming performances include:

Peter Grimes – Britten
Saturday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m.

Tristan und Isolde – Wagner
Saturday, March 22 at 9:30 a.m.

La Bohème – Puccini

La Fille du Régiment – Donizetti

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Regal Natomas Marketplace Stadium or online.

$22 adult; $20 senior (60 years and older); $15 child (11 years and under).

  1. For those of you who enjoy opera, this is very cool! The view is better than the nose bleed seats I could afford when I lived in NJ, plus they take you for a back stage tour during intermission.
