“Ushering in a five-year reauthorization will provide welcome relief to those that live in our country’s floodplains,” said Congresswoman Doris Matsui during last week’s debate of H.R. 1309.
Congresswoman Doris Matsui, D-Sacramento, introduced an amendment to the National Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2011 to phase-in higher rates over five years. Without the amendment, those paying the preferred rate of $350 per year would start paying $1,350 when the rate expires at the beginning of 2013.
