OCTOBER THROUGH JANUARY:

The North Natomas TMA is creating a new event this year, 50 Bikes for 50 Kids! It is a community service event, slated for Monday, January 21, 2013, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the National Day of Service, where 50 well-deserving youth will be matched with teams of volunteers to assemble a bicycle. The “volunteer engineers” will hail from local businesses and community organizations, and range from bike enthusiasts to mechanical novices. Bike recipients are nominated by local youth organizations based on a demonstration of the “Six Pillars of Character” by the Jensen’s Institute: “Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.”
50 Bikes for 50 Kids is a service-based event which relies on volunteer support in every aspect, from set-up to clean-up. As you can imagine there are many volunteer roles that need to be filled in order to make this event successful. This has promise to be a popular annual event, one that promotes excitement in the community and good health. I am currently recruiting for volunteers in every service area.
