The Sacramento Police Dept. is investigating an early-morning shooting in the Regency Park neighborhood of Natomas.
At about 5:32 a.m. this morning, police dispatchers received a call from a man reporting he had “accidentally shot his girlfriend” on the 200 block of Battlecreek Circle. The man told police he thought his girlfriend was an intruder.
A female victim, 34, sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
Police remain on the scene investigating the incident. The boyfriend has been cooperating with the investigation, police spokesperson Michele Gigante said.
