Sacramento police arrested a man suspected of throwing a large rock at a moving vehicle in Natomas on Friday night.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told THE NATOMAS BUZZ she and a friend were driving on Truxel Road south of Del Paso Road at about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 when they spotted a man standing in the roadway. The man appeared to be jaywalking, so the pair slowed down their vehicle to avoid hitting him, she said.

That’s when the man threw a large rock at their vehicle, said the victim. The rock reportedly crashed into the car’s front windshield and bounced on the roof of the vehicle. The vehicle sustained heavy damage, she said.

The pair called 911 and Sacramento police responded to the scene. Officers were able to quickly locate, identify and arrest the suspect, who was on foot, near Gateway Park Drive with help from witnesses in the area.

David Anthony Husted, 26, was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. without incident and booked in the Sacramento County Jail for felony assault, throwing a substance at a vehicle or occupant, and probation violation. Husted is not eligible for bail, according to jail records.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
