The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 20-year-old Nicholas Newsome for the murder of David Blanks over the weekend in the Center Court parking lot.
At 1:52 a.m. Saturday Sac PD found Blanks fatally shot. During the course of the investigation information was developed that indicated the homicide may have been gang related.
Gang detectives were called in to assist with the investigation. Detectives determined that the victim was leaving a night club and walking to his car when he was contacted by a group of subjects. Gang related words were exchanged and one of the subjects shot and killed the victim. Detectives obtained information that indicated Newsome committed the crime.
At 11:08 p.m. last night gang detectives located Newsome inside a movie theater on the 1700 block of Arden Way. He was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Sacramento County Jail.
