Shane Allen with Waffle.

A portrait of “Waffle” the dog was previously appeared on the community fixture about a year ago. Check it out here.

The current image also features Shane Allen, one of Waffle’s owners and a Marine who recently deployed for a seven-month tour on a ship in the Pacific Ocean. Allen is a Natomas Park Elementary and Natomas Charter Leading Edge alumni who graduated from Inderkum High in 2012 and joined the marines three months later.

“His sister Sarah painted this as a present for him,” father Charles Allen said.

Added Shane’s girlfriend and Waffle’s owner Meagan Tayamora, “Waffle, his family, friends, and myself all wish him a safe return home.”

Authors of Our Own Destiny can be painted on by anyone, at anytime, no reservations or approval required before hand.
