A man who contacted law enforcement officers to report the location of a woman’s body has been arrested in connection with her death.

Thomas Bennett, 38, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail earlier this morning on a charge of murder. He is being held without bail.

Sacramento police officers in Natomas 0had been waved down by a man, later identified as Bennett, who told them that a woman could be found inside a storage facility in the 3600 block of Blackfoot Way in Antelope. Since it was not clear whether Bennett was referring to a live or deceased person, police officers responded to the location as they notified the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies met police officers at the storage facility. Deputies and officers were able to access the unit to and upon opening it, found a woman in her 20s dead inside.

The victim’s cause of death could not immediately be determined. The identity of the victim will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, after notification has been made to her next of kin.
