A man has been arrested after leading police on a short, high-speed chase through the southern part of Natomas.

At about 4:31 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, Sacramento police received a report of a vehicle theft in progress near Northgate Boulevard and Garden Highway. Upon arrival, officers said they saw the vehicle leave a parking lot and attempted to stop it.

Police said pursuit of the vehicle was brief and terminated for public safety reasons. Soon after the chase was called off, the vehicle crashed into a set of Regional Transit light rail crossing arms and the driver attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Jason Wright, 34, was apprehended, arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for charges which include vehicle theft and evading police officers while driving in a reckless manner. He is being held without bail.
