Police Investigate Fatal Shooting In Natomas

Sacramento police seek witnesses to an early-morning shooting which left one person dead.

At about 1:05 a.m. this morning police officers responded to reports of a shooting and a large disturbance involving multiple people on the 2200 block of River Plaza Drive.

Additional reports also indicated someone had been shot.

Officers arrived within minutes and discovered the victim, described as a man in his 20s inside an apartment. The victim appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and the Sacramento Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

A second victim, described as a man in his 30s, was also located inside the apartment. The second victim was transported to an area hospital with what appears to be non-lifethreatening injuries.

Later in the morning, a female victim in her 20s admitted herself to an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower extremity. She is believed to be the third victim from the incident on River Plaza Drive.

The initial investigation by police officers indicate the shooting occurred during a large party inside the apartment where the victims were found.

Multiple people were seen fleeing the area either on foot or in vehicles after the shooting occurred.

Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are in the scene investigating the incident. There is no known motive at this time and detectives are working to find out what prompted the deadly shooting.

No arrests related to this incident have been made.

Detectives believe that multiple witnesses were present at the party and are asked to please notify police with any information regarding this incident.
