Goodwill Comes To North Natomas

THE NATOMAS BUZZ | @natomasbuzz
Goodwill Industries is coming to a Natomas strip mall more than two years after the thrift store giant scraped plans for a retail store in the old Borders location.
Signs recently posted in Park Place II on Natomas Boulevard advertise several new tenants including Goodwill in a 2,000 square-foot space near Marshalls. At press time, it was not clear whether the storefront will be used as a donation center, retail or outlet store.
In February 2009, Goodwill Industries withdrew from negotiations for the 25,000 square-foot space formerly occupied by Borders and instead opened a store on Watt Avenue.
The massive retail space has since remained vacant except for a handful of temporary and seasonal retail occupants, like Halloween City which is now open at the site. Currently, the only Goodwill operation in Natomas is a Donation Xpress drop-off location on Truxel Road.
Also coming to Park Place II:
Bed, Bath & Beyond plans to close its 24,071 square-foot store in the Park Place II and relocate in the old Linens N’ Things in the Promenade, on North Freeway Boulevard, where prep work is already under way.
