In the last several years Certified Farmers’ Markets have grown in popularity throughout Sacramento. Today, there are more than 4,600 farmers markets operating throughout the nation, and every year this number continues to grow.

Certified Farmers' Markets successfully reestablish the traditional direct link between farmers and customers. We in the community benefit because we can purchase high quality produce directly, and farmers are able to provide field and tree ripened fruits and vegetables which are often too delicate for the packing and shipping processes of traditional food distribution systems.

Many people have asked me about bringing a farmers’ market to Natomas. I believe a regularly scheduled certified Farmers’ Market would be a new, valuable asset for the entire community.

In order to proceed I have been asked what time and day of the week would be the most successful for the market. I have created a survey to gather information on your thoughts on a market as well as to find out when would be the most optimal time and day to have the market.

I hope that you will take a few moments to fill out the survey and we will be on our way to securing a farmers’ market. (Click here to take survey.)

In the meantime, I hope you will take advantage of many of the farmers’ markets that are currently taking place in Sacramento neighborhoods. Visit the Certified Farmers’ Market website here.
