Really? Someone Thought This Was OK?

THE BUZZ got the call yesterday that someone used our North Natomas neighborhood as their personal dumping ground.

Sure enough, at the corner of North Park and Brookmere, this is what we found. (Down the street, at the corner of North Park and Northborough, there is another piece of discarded furniture.)

YIKES! Anyone recognize this stuff?

FYI, not only is it tacky to toss your trash in a greenbelt, it is also illegal:

Title 13, Chapter 13.10.200 of the City Code states:
It is unlawful and a misdemeanor for any person in the city to throw or deposit any waste upon any street or other public way. Any person, firm or corporation violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not exceeding six months, or by both fine and imprisonment.

The City of Sacramento offers a $500 reward to those who report illegal dumping. The reward is paid by the City of Sacramento to the person furnishing information to the authorities, which results in an arrest and conviction.

The hotline number for reporting is 808-4900. On weeknights, weekends, holidays, or if illegal dumping is in progress, call the Sacramento Police Department at 264-5471.

For information about dumping outside the city limits, check out the Sac County's Illegal Dumping Prevention website.
