Hanging Shingles?

Builder KB Homes recently submitted a major change request to the City of Sacramento’s Planning Department for the partially constructed “Hamptons” project.

The special permit modification is for roofing materials and, if approved, would allow architectural composition shingle roofs in addition to tile shingles.

“Our intent is to expand the range of options to the consumer by offering more than one type of roofing choice,” KB Homes representative Leo Pantoja wrote on the application. The CertainTeed Landmark Series shingles can be viewed online.

According to the paperwork submitted by Pantoja, the composite shingles would only be an option to buyers of the 208 “alley and cluster” units. The Hamptons development consists of a total 1,262 units on a 108-acre site located east of Commerce Way and north/south of Club Center Drive.

The city’s manager for this project is David Hung, who can be reached at [email protected] or 808-5530 for more information.
